Product Information - Garlic is closely related to chives, leeks and onions and is a hardy perennial with long, flat solid, spear-shaped leaves. It’s the crushing of cloves that releases that classic garlic aroma – strong, sulphurous and lingering – coming from alkyl disulfide. Uncooked garlic is sharp and acrid with a hot sensation on the palate, but on cooking it adds sweetness to the flavour while the sharpness and heat are reduced. Steenbergs organic garlic granules are slightly yellow in colour and ideal for cooking as it tastes like fresh garlic without the hassle. Also available as Organic Garlic Powder
